Lago di Pietra

"Lake of Stone" is a project of observation and investigation that has as its focus on the territory of the Pertusillo Dam and its Valley (Val D'Agri).

"After the sighting of vast dark spots, the regional agency for environmental protection has excluded the presence of hydrocarbons in the Pertusillo dam which foresees drinkable water for both Basilicata and Puglia regions. But the water is not drinkable at all, there are heavy metals and hydrocarbons." (Cited Il fatto quotidiano - 3rd Italian newspaper - 13 March 2017).

Here you can find a huge range of environmental issues: toxic waste dispersed in the environment, fish found afloat and the red algae phenomenon. But what is the truth about the chemical state of the water ?

And more important: what will happen to us and future generations?

This project has a sort of conceptual approach, between a documentary proper one and another one with a more intimate approach.

The concept of "non shown" truth is intended to "build" a deeper understanding view made by landscape, human architecture and people, to tell the story of a "ghost" country that is what Lucania (the name of the region) is actually becoming, in the prospective to give a voice to their disappointments and their hopes for the future.
